BOXPARK Launches Inspiring Campaign to Celebrate Women in Sport Ahead of Women’s EURO 2022

This summer, BOXPARK is launching its #WomxnWhoPlay campaign to champion women in sport and inspire the next generation of female athletes and sports enthusiasts, ahead of what is set to be one of the largest European Women’s sporting events in history.

In partnership with Chivas Regal, BOXPARK has created an ‘all-womxn sports team’, collaborating with 12 trailblazers in the sports industry including British Olympic Swimmer Alice Dearing, Olympic Sprinter Jodie Williams and CPFC’s Women’s Footballer Player Leigh Nicol, to celebrate women in sport, whilst exploring the deeper issues faced by young women when pursuing a career or hobby in sports.

While the initiative is looking to promote female participation in sports, BOXPARK is also hoping to bring to light some of the darker topics which may have fallen behind in recent conversations within the industry. Earlier this year it was reported that more than 1 million girls in the UK lose interest in sport as teenagers, and 68% said that a fear of feeling judged prevented them from taking part. The survey conducted by female charity ‘Women In Sport’ also highlighted a significant finding that young girls may need more support to engage with sport as they go through puberty, as a remarkable 70% admitted they would avoid sport when menstruating.

Launching on Friday 10 June 2022, BOXPARK’s #WomxnWhoPlay campaign will share the stories of struggle and success from the talented collective, aiming to help increase awareness around the lack of education for young women in sports, and the existing barriers they may face on a day-to-day basis.

During this two-month program, BOXPARK will aim to educate young women on ways in which they can tackle these issues, and pursue their sports passion, whether it be on the pitch, in the studio, or even training for the Olympics.

Tashia Cameron, PR & Marketing Manager for BOXPARK said: “We are so thrilled to be launching this campaign ahead of the Women’s EURO later this year. At BOXPARK, we are very proud to consistently play a role in providing an inclusive and open space for fans of sports to come together. We truly hope this campaign can contribute to not only celebrating women and increasing the visibility for them in sport, but to also help open a discussion around the setbacks some may face, and how we as a society can help overcome these.”

“We are so excited to be collaborating with such a diverse group of talented individuals who we feel are a fantastic representation of women in the sporting industry up and down the country.” adds Tashia.
