DETAILS Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul rules confirmed: KOs allowed? No judges? No official winner? Lighter gloves?

The ruleset for Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul has now been announced and it’s confirmed that there will be no official winner read out after the fight.

The 50-0 boxing legend is set to meet the 0-1 YouTuber in an unusual exhibition bout this Sunday in Miami.

In order for it to take place with their vast size difference, the contest had to be an exhibition.

This means it will not go on either man’s professional record as an official victory and will be fought under special rules.

Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation are overseeing the contest and a spokesperson informed ESPN of the details.

Firstly, the bout is just eight rounds long. Rounds are three minutes as usual.

Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul Rules

  • No judges scoring contest
  • No official winner
  • Fight won’t go on official records
  • Knockouts are allowed
  • Referee will stop fight if needed
  • 10-ounce gloves
  • No headgear
  • Eight, three-minute rounds

Knockouts are allowed, but this will be the only way to secure a ‘win’ of any kind.

There are no judges for if the exhibition goes the distances and, in this case, there will be no official winner read out.

This was the same for the Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr exhibition last November.

In that case, the WBC appointed three unofficial celebrity judges who bizarrely scored the contest a split draw.

Mayweather and Logan will wear 10-ounce gloves for the bout, which is the same as the gloves the YouTuber used in his professional fight with KSI.

Being in the smaller weight classes, Floyd has fought most of his career in eight-ounce gloves.

They won’t have to wear headgear.

As mentioned above, a KO is the only way to secure any real form of ‘win’ in the contest.

This is likely what Floyd will be targeting, as he previously won an exhibition bout by knockout in Japan back in 2018.
