BRUTAL! Worst MMA injury ever: Fighter loses his finger clean off his hand at CCFC 94 and somehow finishes the round

We’ve seen some pretty gruesome injuries inside the octagon down the years, but nothing like what went down at CCFC 94 on Thursday.

Khetag Pliev took on Devin Goodale in the co-main event on UFC Fight Pass and, amazingly, he lost his finger during the fight.

Amazingly, it wasn’t like the Anderson Silva leg break where the fight just stops, it took him going back to his corner at the end of the round for them to notice!

And when we say he lost his finger, we mean it quite literally. The fight was waved off immediately (giving the 4-0 Goodale the win) and they began frantically searching for Pliev’s finger.

The damage was done by a series of kicks from Goodale. That’s what originally damaged the finger and it was the grappling exchanges that followed that detached it.

The announcer alerted those in attendance to the fact that the finger was missing and that prompted WWE legend and cageside commentator CM Punk to say: “It wasn’t a compound fracture. It wasn’t a break. His finger is gone.”

The card continued and after the conclusion of the main event, CFFC president Rob Haydak revealed the finger was found on the inside of Pliev’s glove. He was immediately transported to hospital and had emergency surgery to have it reattached.

“In the second round, he caught my glove with one hand and held it,” Pliev told ESPN. “I felt my finger snapped. He kept pulling my glove and my finger snapped. We kept fighting.

When the second round was finished, I see my [bone] was out in the open. I wanted to keep fighting, because I felt like I had this guy. But the doctor saw that and stopped the fight.”

He was more upset about not being able to fight than the fact he just quite literally lost his finger! Pliev is now 5-2 with this defeat, but he doesn’t seem deterred by the injury.

This has to be one of the worst injuries, if not the worst in MMA history. Does it get much worse than losing an appendage?
