AFC Bournemouth chief’s verdict on signing of keeper from Barcelona

CHIEF executive Neill Blake believes new keeper Neto will be a “huge asset” for Cherries as he becomes the club’s fourth summer signing.

The 33-year-old today finalised his move to the Dorset club from Barcelona on a 12-month contract.

He has previously been on the books of Juventus, Valencia and Fiorentina – as well as playing once for Brazil in a 5-0 victory over El Salvador in September 2018.

Speaking to, Blake said: “To be able to attract a player of Neto’s calibre is very pleasing.

This is a real coup for the club and we’re delighted he has chosen to join us.

“He has vast experience at the very top level of the game so I’m sure he will be a huge asset for us.”

Cherries had already added Ryan Fredericks, Joe Rothwell and Marcus Tavernier to their squad this summer.

As he has frequently mentioned in press conferences, boss Scott Parker his hopeful of getting more fresh faces through the door before the transfer window closes on September 1.
